چکیده
A polyphasic study was carried out to clarify the taxonomic position of a novel strain R-30(T) isolated from the surficial layer of sediment from Taihu Lake of China. The strain formed pink colored colonies comprising coccodial cells on R2A agar. Phylogenetic analysis based on the 16S rRNA gene sequences showed that strain R-30(T) clustered with the strains of genus Roseococcus and strain Rubritepida flocculans, with Roseococcus suduntuyensis SHET(T) as the closest relative, sharing 95.6% similarity. The major fatty acids (>5%) were 18:1ω7c (66.7%), 16: 1ω7c/16:1ω6c (10.2%) and 16:0 (8.0%). The major polar lipids were diphosphatidyl glycerol (DPG), phosphatidyl methylethanolamine (PME), phosphatidyl ethanolamine (PE) and phosphatidyl choline (PC). The genomic DNA G+C content was 73.9 mol%. On the basis of the phylogenetic analysis and physiological and biochemical characteristics, we conclude that strain R-30(T) represents a novel genus and species of the family Acetobacteraceae, for which we propose the name Sediminicoccus rosea gen nov. sp. nov. with R-30(T) (= CGMCC 1.12302(T) = NBRC 109675(T)) as the type species and type strain.

Novosphingobium sediminis sp. nov., isolated from the sediment of a eutrophic lake.
A Gram-negative, rod-shaped, aerobic, non-motile, bacterium (YG-17(T)) was isolated from eutrophic Taihu lake sediment. Colonies grown on YG agar plates were circular, convex, and yellow-colored. On the basis of 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity, strain YG-17(T) was shown to be closely related to Novosphingobium aromaticivorum (97.9%), followed by Novosphingobium stygium (97.5%), Novosphingobiu...

An aerobic, Gram-negative bacterial strain, TH-G33T, was isolated from freshwater sediment of Taihu Lake in China. The taxonomy of strain TH-G33T was studied by using phenotypic and phylogenetic methods. Cells of strain TH-G33T were coccoid rods or rods and formed colourless to pale-pink colonies on nutrient agar. Phylogenetic analysis based on nearly complete 16S rRNA gene sequences showed tha...

A novel facultatively anaerobic bacterium, strain HC45T, was isolated from sediment of a brackish meromictic lake in Japan, Lake Harutori. Cells were pleomorphic, and filamentous bodies were 5-100 μm in length. For growth, the optimum pH was 7.0 and the optimum temperature was 45-50 °C. The G+C content of the genomic DNA was 71 mol%. iso-C15 : 0 and anteiso-C15 : 0 were the major components in ...

Three marine strains of the Cytophaga-Flavobacterium-Bacteroides group, designated JC2050T, JC2051T and JC2052T, were obtained from a single sediment sample of getbol, the Korean tidal flat. Comparative 16S rDNA sequence studies revealed that the test strains were not closely related to any validly published genera and that these strains were only distantly related to the genus Cyclobacterium (...

A novel methanotroph, strain LC 2(T), was isolated from the littoral sediment of Lake Constance by enrichment in opposing gradients of methane and oxygen, followed by traditional isolation methods. Strain LC 2(T) grows on methane or methanol as its sole carbon and energy source. It is a Gram-negative, non-motile, pale-pink-coloured methanotroph showing typical intracytoplasmic membranes arrange...
